Overview

Serpent Breathing, also called Snake Breathing in game, is the slippery close-mid style of the launch roster. Every attack sends a white snake toward the target, and the chain ends in a cinematic finisher. It rewards players who keep moving and re-enter fights from odd angles rather than standing and trading.

The trainer is Obari, and he is not optional: Serpent has its own master and its own material gate. Find him on the starting-side bear approach cliff ledge, near Windy Peak. The climb is the whole test, since the ledge sits well above the courtyard where new players begin.

Wall Climb is effectively mandatory. Without it you cannot make the ascent, and the skill is available early in the skill tree, so pick it up long before you plan the trip. The rest of the gate is the standard launch package: level 25, 5,000 Wen, 30 Demon Horns and 5 Beast Cores.

Serpent Breathing in Motion

This run follows the full Obanai Iguro route, from the clan roll through the Wall Climb ascent to unlocking Serpent Breathing and pushing the mastery bar. If you want to see the cliff ledge before you climb it yourself, this is the cleanest reference in the pack.

How to Unlock Serpent Breathing

Obari's requirements are the same as every other trainer, but he is the one who actually enforces the movement skill. Wall Climb is non-negotiable here, and the material farm still applies on top of it. Bring the horns and cores first so the ascent is not wasted on a failed hand-in.

1

Reach level 25

The standard trainer floor; quest through Windy Peak and Bamboo Grove until you get there.

2

Unlock Wall Climb

Wall Climb sits in the skill tree early on and is required for the cliff ascent to Obari's ledge.

3

Farm 30 Demon Horns and 5 Beast Cores

Night-time demon drops in caves and open terrain; run looping routes rather than camping one spawn.

4

Save 5,000 Wen

Quest rewards cover the fee comfortably if you are not spending on cosmetic rerolls.

5

Climb to Obari's ledge

Start near Windy Peak, follow the bear approach, and climb the cliffs until the sheltered ledge appears.

Serpent is the launch style with the hardest movement requirement in this batch. Without Wall Climb the ledge is unreachable, so treat the skill tree unlock as part of the quest.

Serpent Breathing Requirements

Serpent's unlock table matches the roster exactly, which makes it easy to plan alongside a second style. The distinguishing row is the movement skill. Budget Wall Climb before anything else, because every other requirement can be farmed while you travel but the climb cannot be skipped.

The Serpent Katana is the reward worth rerunning Obari for. It drops at roughly five percent, the same rate as most breathing katanas, and reforging upgrades it later. Because Obari is also the trainer, you can farm the sword during the unlock trip if you want the weapon list checked off early.

Wall Climb is not a suggestion for this style. Arrive without it and the ledge is out of reach, turning the bear-approach run into a wasted trip.

What Serpent Breathing Does Well

Serpent's identity is pressure through movement. Each attack sends a snake out ahead of you, letting the style threaten a target while you reposition, and the combos chain more freely than the heavier Stone or Flame kits. That makes it excellent at chasing down runners and at escaping a losing exchange.

The trade is precision. Snake projectiles follow the direction you aim rather than covering a wide arc, so whiffed openers leave you exposed until the chain recovers. Learn the spacing on regular enemies first, then take the boss fights once the recovery windows feel predictable.

Snake projectiles

Every attack sends a white snake toward the target.

Mobility pressure

Reposition freely while the snakes keep the target busy.

Serpent Katana

Drops from Obari at roughly five percent.

Obanai theme

The kit mirrors the Serpent Hashira's flowing bladework.

Serpent is the best launch pick for players who hate standing still. The kit keeps pressure on while you move, and its own trainer drops its katana, which simplifies the farm.

Serpent Combo Routes and Mastery

Combo routes start with a projectile to close the gap, then chain into the stance swings while the snake holds attention. The finisher is where the damage lands, so avoid burning it on a target that is about to disengage. Practising against regular enemies makes those windows obvious.

Clan bonuses matter less here than for Flame, but they still add up. A clan with stamina and health buffs keeps Serpent's movement-heavy game alive longer, and anything that raises raw damage multiplies the finisher. The clan buffs list is worth reading before you spend spins.

Mastery is the long tail. Weapon mastery levels separately from character level, so reaching the cap does not finish the moveset. Serpent rewards mastering the whole chain rather than one burst button, which is why the style feels stronger at high mastery than its launch tier placement suggests.

Serpent Breathing Checklist

Serpent's unlock is one trip if you prepare. Handle the level, the Wen and the night farm in the same session, then climb to Obari's ledge with Wall Climb already unlocked. The progression route barely notices the detour once the materials are banked.

  • Reach level 25
  • Unlock Wall Climb from the skill tree
  • Farm 30 Demon Horns and 5 Beast Cores after dark
  • Save 5,000 Wen
  • Climb to Obari's ledge and complete the training
FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the Serpent Breathing trainer in Project Slayers 2?

Obari waits on a sheltered cliff ledge above the starting-side bear approach, near Windy Peak. The route is vertical, so the trainer location guide is worth reading before you set out.

Do you need Wall Climb for Serpent Breathing?

Yes, effectively. Wall Climb is the only way up to Obari's ledge, and it unlocks early in the skill tree, so make it part of the unlock plan rather than a late addition.

What does the Serpent trainer require?

Level 25, 5,000 Wen, 30 Demon Horns and 5 Beast Cores, plus Wall Climb. The materials drop from demons at night, so the farm is the slowest part of the process.

What moves does Serpent Breathing have?

Community footage shows every attack releasing a white snake toward the target, chained swings, and a cinematic finisher. Aim direction matters because the projectiles do not cover a wide arc.

Is Serpent Breathing good in PvP?

It is strong at chasing and resetting fights rather than bursting. The snakes keep pressure while you reposition, so mobile players do well, but a missed opener leaves a recovery that duelists will punish.

What weapon does Serpent Breathing use?

The Serpent Katana, dropped by Obari at roughly five percent. Since Obari is also the trainer, you can start farming the sword on the same trip, and the forging guide covers upgrades.

Is Serpent Breathing the same as Snake Breathing?

Yes. The game labels the style Serpent Breathing, while some community pages call it Snake Breathing. Both names describe the same Obari-taught kit built around white snake projectiles.
